Location of Double Joy
Double Joy is in a rural area of south-west Kenya, 15 miles south of the equator, and 26 miles east of the Ugandan border. It is in a beautiful location on the hilly slopes of the north east shore of Lake Victoria. This region has no piped water, so it is of great advantage to be near the lake.
Double Joy is within Bondo district, with the town of Bondo 15 miles away by road. The nearest city is Kisumu, which is 65 miles away. There is a good transport system from the capital Nairobi to Kisumu. We make regular trips to Kisumu to buy provisions and to take any of our sick children to hospital. There is a regular bus service between Kisumu and Double Joy. There is a market 1 mile from us where we buy some basic items.
